R&D Women’s Project, an innovative initiative aimed at bridging the digital skills gap for rural women, has officially commenced its first activity.

The project, led by INNSAMBLE (Spain) in partnership with CONTEXTOS (Portugal) and NewCO SA (Greece), aims to develop a flexible and practical educational methodology using participatory tools.

Recognizing the importance of digital literacy in today’s rapidly evolving job market, the R&D Women’s Project focuses on empowering rural women by providing them with the essential digital skills required to access employment opportunities. Through its research and development efforts, the project aims to create a comprehensive competence framework that identifies the key digital skills necessary for individuals to thrive in the labor market.

The project’s inaugural activity involves conducting an in-depth analysis of the competence framework. To ensure a comprehensive understanding of the skills demanded by employers and government employment agencies, the R&D Women’s Project is currently administering a survey. This survey aims to identify the specific digital skills that are crucial for individuals to secure gainful employment and establish themselves in the labor market.

The organizations from Portugal, Spain, and Greece are enthusiastic about the potential impact this initiative will have on rural women’s lives in the three countries. By equipping them with the basic digital skills required to access the labor market, the project aims to empower women, reduce inequality, and foster economic growth in rural communities.

The project’s ongoing work represents a significant step forward in achieving gender equality and promoting inclusive economic development.
