Project Overview

COMFORTage is a Horizon Europe Cluster 1 project developing AI-powered digital companions for elderly people at risk of social isolation and chronic disease deterioration. NEWCO contributes the NFC-enabled patient data infrastructure (Tap2SOS) and COTIC blockchain audit layer for secure, cross-border health data portability within the European Health Data Space (EHDS).

NEWCO Contribution

NEWCO leads Work Package 4 (Data Infrastructure), delivering the NFC patient data retrieval system integrated with the Tap2SOS platform, COTIC blockchain audit trails for all health events recorded across the consortium, and a GDPR-compliant data export module aligned with the EHDS interoperability specifications.

Key Outcomes

  • NFC patient data retrieval piloted across hospital environments in Greece, Cyprus, and Romania
  • COTIC blockchain securing over 18,000 health events across the consortium to date
  • GDPR-compliant EHDS export layer (Deliverable D4.3) submitted Q2 2024
  • AI deterioration detection model achieving 91% sensitivity in the pilot patient cohort
